As we close out Black History Month, here’s an update on some of the amazing black-owned businesses that we’ve supported through the EDC’s Loan Up program.

The KC Daiquiri Shop team added a second location, Bistreaux (8725 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS) while their first location (1116 Grand Blvd , KCMO) prepares to celebrate a 3rd year Anniversary. Awesome, we congratulate owners, Calvin Vick and Harold Strickland.

Ms. Kenyata Gant celebrates 10-years of business and leads her PinkLipps Cosmetic business (1112 E. 47th St., KCMO) to debut in Target Stores. We congratulate her shining success.

Chef Anita Moore, of Soiree’ Steak & Oyster House (1512 E 18th St, KCMO), has been selected as one of the tenants at our new KCI Airport Terminal. We congratulate Soiree’ on this commendable win.

The Laya Center, a holistic wellness center located 1814 Oak, KCMO, is a 2022 President Biden Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree. We congratulate owners Mr. Joe and LaToyia Mays.

The Urban Café (5500 Troost Ave, KCMO) is a local favorite and was recently selected as a tenant in our new KCI Airport Terminal. We congratulate owners Justin and Rashaun Clark on their success.
