The Kansas City Area Development Council recently announced that Adrian Steel is expanding into Kansas City to supply parts for Ford automobiles with a new 32,000 square-foot facility. The Adrian, Mich.-based company plants on leasing 11 acres of land within the Hunt Midwest Business Center with an investment of $4.7 million, with the goal of creating 39 new jobs and being operational by September 2013.
The company manufactures a variety of storage solutions, including shelving, drawers, cabinets, partitions, ladder racks and more. Technicians at Adrian Steel’s Michigan facility have already installed commercial van interiors and upfitted more than one million vehicles for customers in the telecommunications and industrial sectors.
In a statement, Bob Browns, general manager for the company, says, “The Kansas City region proved to be an ideal location for our newest Adrian Steel operation. We are very proud of our ongoing relationship with Ford Motor Company and look forward to contributing to the future of the Ford TRANSIT.”
Once the facility is operational, Adrian Steel will work as a Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) for Ford’s TRANSIT commercial van operations, which are conducted at the company’s own Kansas City assembly plant. Adrian will install shelving, partitions and other management solutions
