KANSAS CITY – August 22nd – The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today that Valorem Consulting, a Missouri-based information technology firm, will be increasing its presence in Kansas City. The expansion project includes a $100,000 capital investment and is expected to create an initial 20 new jobs with the potential for more future job creation.

“We launched Valorem here in 2009, since then Missouri has provided a stable environment in which to grow and expand our business,” said Domnick Parretta, Managing Partner at Valorem Consulting. “We’re invested in the Missouri business community and we’re grateful for the continued support from the State, the City of Kansas City, and the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City.

Valorem is a premier consulting company offering a broad range of technology solutions and professional services to clients throughout the United States. Using Microsoft SharePoint, Business Intelligence and Cloud technologies, Valorem is able to provide high-tech custom solutions to meet the diverse needs of business clientele. Valorem Consulting has offices in both Kansas City and St. Louis. A rapid increase in demand for the company’s services has spurred expansion of Kansas City operations.

“Valorem’s decision to expand in Kansas City shows that when you invest in your own, everyone wins,” said Kansas City Mayor Sly James.  “The entrepreneurial spirit of Kansas City is reflected in homegrown companies like Valorem, launched right here in Kansas City in 2009, that find innovative ways to address business needs.  This is precisely the type of good news that is helping make Kansas City the most entrepreneurial city in the nation.”

Missouri is making a name for itself in the technology industry. Valorem is just the latest tech company to announce an increased presence in the state. Earlier this year, Boeing announced plans to increase its IT workforce in St. Louis by 400 jobs and Cerner Corporation announced an expansion in Kansas City creating 15,000 jobs. With the 8th lowest corporate taxes, 8th lowest average commercial energy costs and a large influx of skilled technology workers, Missouri provides a favorable business climate for thriving high-tech companies.

“Missouri has a strong information technology sector and Valorem’s expertise can add to that,” said Mike Downing, Acting Director of Missouri Department of Economic Development. “This investment in Valorem not only creates jobs now, but paves the way for future success and development in Missouri’s tech industry.”

Some of the state of Missouri’s resources and initiatives that have aided business expansions include the Certified Work Ready Communities Program, export assistance, customized job recruitment and screening, Certified Site designation, LocationOne site and building database, and others that can be found at www.ded.mo.gov.

To assist Valorem Consulting with its expansion, the Department of Economic Development and the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City have authorized a strategic economic incentive package that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation and investment criteria.
