In Events, KC News by EDCKC Staff

The Kansas City, Missouri City Council Special Committee on Small Business will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, February 26th, from 7 – 9 pm.  It will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall (414 East 12th Street, 26th floor, Kansas City, MO 64106).

The purpose of this meeting is to hear suggestions from the public  on how to improve and streamline the commercial development process in Kansas City.  This is a part of an ongoing effort by the Small Business Committee to make it easier for small businesses in Kansas City.

Right now, the City Planning and Development Department is conducting a comprehensive evaluation and review of current business service processes and performance.  This analysis will include the process involved from initial application to final approval of proposed private development construction projects, including land use (zoning) approval, application intake and handling, building permit plans review, permit issuance and inspection, as well as the plans review, permitting, and inspection of public infrastructure components related to the private development, and other related ancillary functions.  The evaluation will compare current business practices and service delivery benchmarks with other national leading city planning and development departments recognized for best practice procedures, and/or recognized and accepted national benchmarks, and with our local, regional and national peer cities.

Chair-Small Business Committee
