At the May Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Board of Directors meeting, President/CEO Pete Fullerton announced the selections of Bernardo Ramirez as the Executive Vice President – Chief Operating Officer, and T’Risa McCord as Senior Vice President – Chief Administrative Officer. Ramirez’s primary responsibilities will be to manage the business and community development activities of the organization, while McCord will manage the administrative and development services activities. “Bernardo and T’Risa bring extensive knowledge of the Kansas City community and of the process of economic development”, Fullerton stated. “These new additions to the EDC team will greatly strengthen our organizational capacity to pursue the EDC’s mission of driving economic development and creating an environment in which businesses and residents prosper in our city.” “I look forward to working with Bernardo and T’Risa toward building a state of the art Economic Development Corporation that can assist in bringing job opportunities and quality development throughout our city,” said Fullerton.
Bernardo Ramirez is currently the Executive Director of the Hispanic Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) in Kansas City, Missouri. HEDC is a non-profit economic development corporation that exists to improve economic opportunities for the greater Kansas City area. Ramirez is responsible for the daily operations of the corporation, including program planning, operational programming, financial and budget structures. Ramirez earned a master’s degree in business administration from Rockhurst College. “I am excited about joining the EDC team at this time but more importantly making great opportunities of economic impact available to all of our Kansas City communities and neighborhoods”, said Ramirez.
T’Risa McCord is currently a Financial Analyst with Pimerica Financial Services. McCord brings an extensive level of experience in administrative, financial, leadership and change management skills to the EDC. Prior, McCord was the Business Services Manager for the Little Blue Valley Sewer District. Earlier in her career, she held positions with the Housing Authority of Kansas City, MO and the AFL-CIO Labor Council. From 1994-1997, McCord was a Business Development Specialist/Project Manager for the EDC. McCord received her undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College in Business Administration and earned a Master’s of Public Administration from Park University. “I very much look forward to rejoining the EDC team and look forward to being a part of building a great organization,” said McCord.
“The addition of Bernardo and T’Risa is a strong move toward creating a new EDC. An EDC that is proactive and community centered,” said Bridgette Williams, EDC Chair and Deputy Director of the Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City.
