Which Kansas City company will plan the 2014 Cornerstone event?

In Events, KC News by EDCKC Staff

We are in the early planning stages of the 2014 Cornerstone Awards, an annual event to celebrate businesses and projects that have contributed to the growth and stability of Kansas City, Missouri’s economy.  Winning projects are chosen based not only on investment and new jobs, but on the project’s overall effect on issues like education, quality of life, and the project’s impact on the community and surrounding neighborhoods.

Each year, the EDC works with partners to manage the event elements, as well as the publicity, marketing and fundraising for the program.  An invitation to bid was announced in late August and Six finalists will be interviewed by a panel of EDC Marketing Committee judges on Friday, October 4th to decide the bid winner.

The Cornerstone Awards are presented annually at a reception in the spring.  The Mayor of Kansas City is present to honor the award winners, and a video highlighting the nominees and award winners is presented.  The awards reception is attended each year by approximately 800 guests, and more than 50 of Kansas City’s corporate leaders sponsor the event.

For many years, the Cornerstone Awards were presented at a luncheon event.  In 2013, it was decided to make this event a reception instead.  A networking/exhibit function was hosted featuring food displays by Kansas City chefs, Boulevard Brewing Co. and Amigoni Urban Winery, and followed by a sit-down awards presentation.  This format was well-received and the EDC Marketing/Cornerstone Awards Committee has decided to keep this, or a similar format, in 2014.
