Ora Reynolds has spent the past 22 years watching Kansas City grow and develop, as that’s how long she’s been with Hunt Midwest, a full service real estate development firm that provides developed sites, infrastructure services and build-to-suit options in the industrial, commercial, retail, multi-family, senior housing and residential segments of the market.
Hunt Midwest, a privately held company, is owned by the Lamar Hunt family. Primary company assets include Hunt Midwest Business Center – a 1,000-acre surface business park, SubTropolis – a 1,150-acre underground business complex, and 12 residential communities with over 6,000 platted lots.
Something most people don’t know about Ora is that she was once a corporate banker in Tampa, Florida before moving to KC more than 24 years ago. A native of Chicago, Reynolds started out as manager of new business development at Hunt Midwest in 1991. She assumed the role of president in 2010 and has been directing the development, marketing, sales and leasing of industrial, commercial, retail and residential properties owned by the company for the past three and a half years. She is heavily focused on strategic planning and expansion within and outside the Kansas City metro.
“Economic development in Kansas City, Missouri matters to me because job creation via the retention / expansion of existing business and the attraction of new companies to the area is key to the viability, vibrancy and quality of life in Kansas City,” says Reynolds.
Being that she is from Chicago, we had to ask her what she loves most about Kansas City. Her answer? Being able to eat at so many amazing “independent” restaurants in the city coupled with the plethora of sports, arts, theater and live music opportunities the city has to offer. We think that about covers it too!
