On September 23rd and 24th, staff from the City of Kansas City, Missouri attended the Big Ideas for Small Business Summit in Chicago. The summit, hosted by the City of Chicago and the National League of Cities, was a forum for municipal professionals from 20 American cities to talk about innovative ways to make local government more business friendly.
David Rowe, Director of Policy for Mayor Sly James, Rick Usher, Assistant City Manager, and John Pajor, KC BizCare Manager, represented Kansas City at the summit. Rick Usher co-hosted a discussion on creating one stop shops for business customer service and John Pajor presented on the partnership between KC BizCare and KCSourcelink that enables new business owners to develop their business skills, build their networks and access resources in the community.
The Kansas City team plans to meet with internal staff and external partners over the coming weeks to share what they learned at the summit and take action to improve service to the business community here in Kansas City.
