In 2016, k12itc, a KC Northland company who provides customized technology services and solutions for K-12 school districts, invested $2 million in data center and network infrastructure components. A key piece of k12itc’s business is providing managed services to clients, which means owning and maintaining the full stack of hardware in client locations (switching, wireless, firewalls, servers, storage, etc). The $2M investment allowed k12itc to purchase new equipment necessary to maintain and grow those services.
K12itc was founded in 2010 and have grown from 3 to 32 employees. Six new jobs were created from this most recent investment. Revenues have grown 18,000% and k12itc has partnered with over 90 school districts in 7 different states, including some private and charter schools.
K12itc started locally, expanded to all corners of Missouri then neighboring states. The firm even fulfilled its obligation to create good jobs through the Missouri Quality Jobs Program three years early, investing nearly $1 million in a new, Silicon Valley-style office in north Kansas City complete with game rooms, creative spaces, an innovation lab, free gym memberships and a full kitchen.
k12itc’s founder, Brad Sandt, said they have plans to be nationwide in three or four years.
