Skilled Workforce Missouri cuts cost and time to production for eligible business wanting to expand or grow in Missouri by providing funds for recruitment and pre-employment training at no cost to the business. With this program, eligible businesses can utilize a wide range of recruitment and training resources throughout the state.
The Skilled Workforce Missouri team can develop a comprehensive outreach and marketing campaign, including media coverage, flyers and social media to help fill open positions with the right talent depending on the business’ needs. Skilled Workforce Missouri can work with various partners including chambers of commerce, workforce boards, job centers and educational entities to help spread the word about your openings as well as host recruitment events.
Beyond marketing the available positions, the Skilled Workforce Missouri team assists eligible businesses with pre- or post-employment training for your business needs, the team connects you to its extensive network of 12 community colleges and a state technical college, giving you your choice of training programs and the ability to customize the program to fit your needs.
Businesses across Missouri are becoming more competitive with the help of Skilled Workforce Missouri. When Nucor, the largest U.S. steel producer, invested $250 million in a new rebar micro-mill in Sedalia, 255 highly skilled workers would need to be recruited and trained. Skilled Workforce Missouri is providing the solution. Since November of 2017, the Skilled Workforce Missouri team has been working side by side with Nucor to ensure the company gets the workforce it needs.
To date, the promotional campaign for Nucor’s job postings and job information sessions have reached more than 190,000 people with social media, flyers and news coverage reaching many more. Skilled Workforce Missouri has helped Nucor plan three informational sessions for job seekers in Marshall, Sedalia and Warrensburg. In addition, Nucor is partnering with State Fair Community College to access dedicated training funds through the program’s New Jobs Training Program to provide technical skills training specific to industrial electrical maintenance, welding, CNC machining and OSHA safety.
